Teaching and Learning Strategies

An integrated MBA curriculum teaches more than a set of skills. It teaches a new way of looking at the world. The critical concerns of the global economyfrom financial markets to climate change, from globalization to governance, in healthcare, in education, even in entrepreneurial activityrequire leaders who can draw on the complexity of the modern business environment to create solutions and seize opportunities.

Integrated

Designed around the cross-functional way contemporary organizations work, rather than the traditional academic silos. Throughout the curriculum, students and faculty approach problems by looking to the broadest possible circle of skills and resources to fashion innovative solutions. Similarly, ethical and moral considerations are factored into every situation, and not relegated to a separate course.

Practical

While encompassing subjects from the basics of team building to the complexities of financial markets, APIIT Management classes look at their subject matter in a rich, realistic context.

Global

A broad understanding of the global economy is vital to every leader. Students also have opportunities to participate in consulting trips abroad. In addition, a diverse student body, having lived and worked in all corners of the world, brings a wealth of experiences into the classroom.

Rigorous

APIIT teaches the fundamental skills of management education, from using the capital asset pricing model to creating a value proposition, and holds its students to the highest standards of performance, integrity, and collegiality.
Our expectations for our graduates are equally highthat they strive to make a positive difference in the world.

Personal

Leadership is personal, and Management programs, such as the Leadership Development Program and the Careers course, challenge students to align their professional goals with their values. The small class size and low student-faculty ratio enable each student to draw on the resources of the Management community.

Customizable

While the core curriculum teaches the essentials of professional management, elective courses allow students to dive deeply into their areas of professional interest.

Foundation Course

The core curriculum starts with a sixteen-week Foundation Course that prepares students for these integrated courses:-
  • It focus on organizational role, instead of disciplinary topic, creates a richer, more relevant context for students to learn the concepts they need to succeed as leaders.
  • Introduces basic language, concepts, tools, and problem-framing methodologies that will be drawn on broadly throughout the curriculum but are not easily introduced in subsequent courses.
  • Develops techniques for interpersonal effectiveness in critical work relationships and teams.
  • Begins the process of focusing career aspirations.

Pedagogy:

A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to students. Lectures, case analysis, simulation games and exercises, syndicates, group discussions, Debates and practical project work are commonly used to develop conceptual, analytical and decision making skills and to prepare the students to face the challenges of the complex business and organizational environment. An attempt is made to assess the students' performance through a continuous system of tests, quizzes, mid-term and semester-end examination to ensure highest academic standards as well as practical orientation.
